This has certainly been the case with the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed in Beijing in 2008.

For New Zealand, thisagreement held the promise of securing a greater share of the rapidly expandingChinese market as well as the potential for deeper bilateral relations. From aneconomic perspective, the free trade agreement has been a remarkable successfor New Zealand, increasing exports to China from NZD2.2 billion($1.8 billion) in 2008 to NZD8.6 billion in 2012 (the most recent statistics).
